THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
CONFIRMATION
Before Jesus ascended to the Father, He promised to send us His Spirit (John 16:7-8). We receive this Spirit first at Baptism, and that baptismal gift is deepened and strengthened when we receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. This sacrament, instituted by Christ, effects the “special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost” (CCC1302)
If you are not a member of our parish and would like your child to receive the sacrament of confirmation, your first step is to join our parish. We are excited to welcome you to our parish and to support you in raising your child in the Catholic faith.
Confirmation preparation is open to all youth in 7th grade or above, who have been baptized, are participating in the life of the Cathedral parish, and who petition the Church for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Child readiness is evaluated by the Formation Team. Preparation takes place on Wednesday at Cathedral's formation program, Faith on Fire, for 12 weeks.
