Journey to the ChurchOCIA is a journey
Everyone is at different part of their faith journey and each individual and their situation is unique. We desire to walk alongside those who are journeying towards the Church at the appropriate time and pace that coincides with each person's current level of readiness. How long does it take? Usually the OCIA process takes about a year from start to entrance into the Church. For some it may be longer or shorter depending upon each person's individual needs and readiness. Steps in the journey The journey of entrance into the Church is marked by a series of steps. Step 1 - Inquiry (individuals are given an opportunity to ask questions that they have about the Catholic Church) Step 2 - Catechumenate/Symbolon Part 1 (Individuals learn about knowing the Catholic Faith - What Catholics believe) Step 3 - Catechumenate/Symbolon Part 2 (Individuals learn about living out the Catholic Faith) Step 4 - Enrichment (Individuals enter into a period of deepening prayer, meditation, reflection, and any content they desire to study further, as they prepare to complete the final OCIA Rites and enter into the Church) When do sessions start? We have sessions running year-round. Contact the parish offices or fill out the OCIA interest form. Once both the Church and the individual believe them to be ready for the sacraments, they will enter into full communion with the Church through Sacraments of Initiation.” |
